Biliran Geothermal Inc. is investigating a gas leak that downed at least eight workers in its geothermal plant on Biliran Island last Thursday.

Seven of the eight workers have been discharged from the hospital as of Sunday, while the eighth is in stable condition, according to a report on GMA News TV’s “News TV Live.”

The eight were rushed to a hospital Thursday after complaining of dizziness, weakness and vomiting.

Biliran Geothermal said its initial findings showed an ammonia-like gas leaked. It had earlier been reported that hydrogen sulfide had leaked at the plant. — Joel Locsin/JDS, GMA News
