The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) today expressed disappointment over the wage increases granted to workers in Metro Manila and other regions.
TUCP said that the increases are very minimal and are not enough to restore the lost purchasing power of workers and is sorely inadequate to cover the increases in prices of commodities and services.
TUCP vowed to appeal the amounts granted by the wage boards before the National Wages and Productivity Commission (NWPC).
“Given the amounts granted by the boards, we have no choice but to bring our case before the NWPC which has the power of review over the decisions of wage boards”, TUCP said.
TUCP said that under the law it has ten days to file an appeal.
