MANILA, Philippines – Minimum wage earners in Northern Mindanao will receive a P12 increase in their daily take home pay, the National Wages and Production Commission (NWPC) said yesterday.
The NWPC said the wage increase would be implemented starting July 3.
“The board (Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board in Northern Mindanao) finds it imperative to provide adjustment to augment the income of workers without significantly affecting the viability of business establishments,” the NWPC said.
The wage order will raise the daily minimum wage of non-agriculture workers to P318 and agriculture workers in the cities of Cagayan de Oro, Iligan and the towns of Tagalaon, Villanueva and Jasaan to P308.
Non-agricultural workers in the cities of Malaybalay, Valencia, Gingoog, El Salvador and Ozamiz and the municipalities of Maramag, Quezon and Manolo Fortich will get a daily pay of P313 while agricultural workers will receive P301.
The NWPC said non-agricultural workers in the cities of Oroquieta and Tangub and Lugait, Opo and Mambajao towns would get P308 and agricultural workers receive P296 starting next week.
All other non –agricultural workers will receive a daily pay of P303 while those in agricultural sector will get P291.
Aside from the salary hike, employers were asked to adopt productivity incentive schemes.
Distressed establishments, new business enterprises and companies affected by calamities and disasters could seek exemption from the wage hike, the NWPC said. –Mayen Jaymalin, The Philippine Star
