A 46-year-old construction foreman was killed in a freak accident in Quezon City Sunday, police said yesterday.

The Quezon City Police District-Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit identified the victim as Ricardo Castillo, married, of San Jose del Monte City, Bulacan.

Chief Insp. Rodel L. Marcelo, QCPD-CIDU chief, said that Castillo and co-workers were repairing an improvised electric fan using a cut-off blade at the Corinthian Garden Subdivision basketball court on Madrigal St., Barangay Ugong Norte, at 11 p.m. when the cut-off blade suddenly separated and stabbed the victim in the chest.

Co-workers rushed the victim to the Medical City in Pasig City where he died. Police are investigating the incident.
