CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines – At least 47 people were hospitalized following an ammonia leak at an industrial park in Carmona, Cavite, yesterday.

The victims, mostly women workers of garment factory Hamlin and Golden Mile Co., suffered vomiting and dizziness and were brought to the Pagamutan ng Bayan in Carmona, Perpetual Help Hospital, Unihealth Southwoods Hospital and Biñan Doctors Hospital, said Senior Inspector Rosalinda Sta. Ana, municipal fire marshal chief.

Sta. Ana said two women remained confined in a hospital yesterday.

The leak reportedly came from Polytrade Sales and Service Inc., a manufacturer of tube and crushed ice.

In a statement, the company said the leak was traced to a condenser in the factory.

Sta. Ana said an investigation is ongoing.
