Mindanao at Palawan, nakaalerto vs human trafficking

Nagpakalat na ng maraming tauhan ang Bureau of Immigration (BI) sa border stations sa Mindanao region at sa Palawan upang mapigilan ang mga sindikato ng human trafficking na nambibiktima sa mga ino­senteng kababaihan patungo sa ibang bansa.

Ayon kay BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, nagdagdag ito ng immigration personnel at intelligence agents sa anim na border crossing stations sa Mindanao at Palawan kung saan tinukoy nito na talamak ang human trafficking.

Tugon ito ng BI matapos masagip ang 33 kababaihan na biktima ng human trafficking habang papaalis ng Bongao, Tawi-Tawi at sa Turtle Islands at sa ba­yan ng Sitangkai at pasakay sa isang bangka bago dalhin sa Malaysia hanggang Dubai.

Makikipag-ugnayan aniya ang BI sa ilang ahensya ng pamahalaan sa tulad ng police maritime group, at ng Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) and Philippine Navy.

Sinabi nito na karamihan sa mga biktima ng human trafficking ay dinadala sa Malaysia bago ilipat sa ibang desinasyong bansa sa Gitnang Silangan para magtrabaho bilang domestic helpers (DH).
