13 minors rescued from human traffickers in Cavite

Thirteen minors who fell victim to a human trafficking ring allegedly being run by two sisters have been rescued by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) in an operation in Dasmariñas City, Cavite.

The entrapment operation on Thursday also led to the arrest of sisters Elvie Aringo and Arlene Aringo, who are accused of forcing young girls into Internet pornography.

The children were rescued following information from the US Homeland Security Investigations, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (USHSI-ICE) about a person in Dasmariñas who was offering underaged Filipino girls to clients for sexually–related shows in exchange for certain amounts payable through money remittance centers and other similar methods.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 7619 (Trafficking in Persons Act) and Republic Act 10175 (Child Pornography Act) are expected to be filed against the suspects with the Department of Justice. — MDM, GMA News
