Worker pinned down by air compressor

A CONSTRUCTION worker died after an air compressor lifted by a tower crane fell on him in the construction site of the Mactan Cebu International Airport (MCIA) Terminal 2 last Friday afternoon. The victim was identified as Adolfo Flores, 36, of the RCK Builders. Cyril Ticao, officer-in-charge of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) 7, got a text message from Engineer Russel Cañete, safety officer of MCIA, about the incident. According to Cañete, the accident happened in the MCIA Terminal construction site at 4:30 p.m. The victim was rushed to the Mactan Doctors Hospital where he died on the same day. Ticao was still waiting for the result of the investigation of the Labor Laws Compliance officer of DOLE.

Jason Torres, who is the coordinator of the construction project, said RCK Builders had already talked to the family of Flores. RCK Builders said they are willing to coordinate with the agencies that conducted the investigation and will take measures so the incident will not be repeated. Torres said the RCK Builders is now cooperating with the proper agencies to investigate the cause of this incident and to ensure that strict measures are implemented so that accidents such as this will not be repeated.
