The Department of Labor and Employment (Dole) has ordered two Japanese firms in Laguna and their contractors found to be engaged in labor-only contracting to regularize more than 1,000 workers.

Its Calabarzon regional office issued separate compliance orders directing Terumo Philippines Corp. and Toyo Seat Philippines Corp. to give regular employment status to the workers.

Regularization

Terumo Philippines Corp. is a manufacturer of syringe and medical equipment, while Toyo Seat Philippines Corp. is an automotive interior parts company.

Regional director Zenaida Angara-Campita directed Terumo Philippines Corp. and its three contractors to regularize 1,048 workers.

The Dole also ordered Toyo Seat Philippines Corp. and its 14 contractors to regularize 284 workers after they were barred from labor-only contracting and subcontracting activities.—JULIE M. AURELIO
