Manila fire kills 3 workers

Three people were killed in a fire that hit a commercial establishment in Sta. Cruz, Manila early Friday.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) confirmed the death of the victims, who were initially reported missing during the fire that razed Charipp Trading.

Fire authorities identified the fatalities as Zardy Luna, 37; Angelito Jumares, 52; and Dennis Magdaet, 30.

Radyo Inquirer reported that all three victims were employees of Charipp Trading, which building also serve as storage of linoleum, school supplies, and curtains.

The blaze started around 3:08 a.m. from the building’s 3rd floor, fire officials said. While the victims managed to flee from the third floor, they were trapped when they reached the ground floor as the building’s mezzanine collapsed. with reports from Donabelle Dominguez-Cargullo, Jan Escosio/Radyo Inquirer
