LUCENA CITY – Police rescued a 16-year-old girl from three suspected human traffickers in Tiaong town in Quezon province Friday night, police reported.

A report from the Quezon police office said the Tiaong police station received a phone call about a girl being forced to enter one of the rooms at an apartelle in Barangay (village) Poblacion 1 around 9:30 p.m.

Policemen who responded to the incident rescued the girl and arrested Josephine Bague, Gilberto Oguis and Apolinario Guci Jr. who were allegedly forcing the victim to enter the apartelle.

Police learned that the victim was a resident of Calauan town in Laguna province. However, it was not stated by police how the child came to be under the custody of the suspects.

The three face criminal complaint for violation of the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2003 as amended by the Expanded Anti-Human Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012.
