NATIONAL TRADE UNION CENTER PHILIPPINES HOLDS FOUNDING CONVENTION, GETS DOLE REGISTRATION.

Published by rudy Date posted on February 13, 2019

Eighteen federations formed the National Trade Union Center (NTUC Philippines) on 18 August 2018.

Brother Rodolfo Capoquian was elected President. Other officers are General Secretary Roland de la Cruz, Treasurer Milagros Ogalinda, Deputy General Secretary Dave Diwa, Assistant Treasurer Jesus Exequiel (Exie) Nidea. The Chairs of the Women Committee (Sister Florencia Cabatingan) and of the Youth Committee (Brother Wilmark Ramos) were provisionally elected to the Executive Board.

NTUC Philippines counts TUCP affiliated federations and new TUCP affiliates which presented a broader national center, until the unfortunate Court of Appeals/Supreme Court decision "allowed" continuing the forced and illegal occupation of the TUCP headquarters and the disenfranchising of the other national unions which joined and rejoined TUCP after January 2012.

Among the Convention resolutions were to continue the campaign (1) against continuing victimization of contractual workers and the ending of “endo”; and (2) for nation-wide across- the-board adjustment in wages as continuing increases in consumer prices worsen the disadvantaged position of workers and their families; and support for the adoption of an ILO Convention, accompanied by a Recommendation, on gender-based violence (GBV) in the world of work, and urges the government and employers to cause the establishment of mechanisms at the enterprise level for programs to prevent GBV and assist victims.

NTUC Philippines obtained its DOLE Registration No. 11933 (TUC)-LC on 21 November 2018.
