MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) recently intercepted six women believed to be victims of a human trafficking syndicate at the Clark International Airport.
In a report, Grifton Medina, BI port operations division chief, said the victims were prevented from boarding a JinAir flight bound for Incheon, South Korea on Nov. 8 due to fake travel documents.
The women were turned over to the Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking.
The South Korean embassy reportedly issued entertainer’s visas to the victims, but their overseas employment certificates (OECs) were fake.
The women said a certain Mercy from Cavite gave their OECs.
