Libreng tech education alok sa programa ng DICT

Dahil sa hirap ng buhay, nahinto sa pag-aaral si Bernardo Miralles noong siya’y 15 taong gulang.

Pero desidido pa rin siyang magka-diploma, kaya kahit may asawa at anak na, ipinagpatuloy ni Miralles, 37, ang pag-aaral. Kasalukuyan siya ngayong Grade 12 student.

Habang nag-aaral, naitatawid ni Miralles ang gastusin ng pamilya sa pagtatrabaho bilang computer technician – isang skill na natutunan niya noon sa training center ng Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT).

Libre ang mga pagsasanay sa mga Tech4Ed center ng DICT para sa mga nais makakuha ng trabaho sa industriya ng business process outsourcing, maging online freelancer, at magkaroon ng technical-vocational skills.

“Ang Tech4Ed centers, para siyang computer shops,” ani DICT regional operations coordination services head Amelia Dean.

“Ito ay isang lugar kung saan ang mga tao makakapunta kung gusto nila ng free training, maka-access ng gamit ng computer at maka-access din ng content niya,” paliwanag ni Dean.

Isa sa mga katuwang ng DICT sa programa ang Connected Women, isang platform na target bigyan ng trabaho ang mga kababaihan.

“Ang agreement namin is to train 10,000 women to use digital technology in 5 years,” ani Connected Women co-founder Ruth Yu-Owen.

Bukas sa lahat – maging sa estudyante, out-of-school youth, persons with disabilities, at senior citizens – ang mga pasilidad ng Tech4Ed centers, na makikita sa mga local government unit at paaralan sa bansa.
