SAN ANTONIO, Zambales, Philippines — The clustered cases of the new coronavirus disease at a power plant in Masinloc town have ballooned to 88, forcing its operator to close the facility to curb virus transmission, officials said on Monday.

Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health director, said 30 of the cases reported on Aug. 22 to 23 were among the 1,000 Power Zaver workers being isolated at Bani National High School, also in Masinloc. Bueno said a worker, who was the source of the outbreak at the plant, had already recovered, but contact tracing and testing of his fellow workers were still underway.
