DOH: 6,735 PH medical frontliners get COVID-19

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 6,735 healthcare workers in the Philippines have contracted the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) the Department of Health’s (DOH) said in its latest data released on Friday.

The increase in the number of COVID-19 cases among medical frontliners was due to the 80 additional infections the DOH reported on Wednesday, August 26.

Of the 6,735 COVID-19 cases among healthcare workers, 6,070 have already recovered, including 36 new recoveries.

Meanwhile, there are 625 active cases.

Of these active cases, 407 are mild cases, 213 were asymptomatic, three are in severe condition while two are critical cases.

The DOH also reported 40 deaths among medical workers because of COVID-19.

On August 27, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the country surpassed 205,000.

Of this number, 133,990 patients have recovered while more than 3,000 have died.
