Parts of Silay hospital locked down after 8 staff members, 7 patients test positive for COVID-19

BACOLOD CITY —- Sections of a hospital in Silay City were locked down starting Wednesday after eight staff members and seven patients tested positive for the new coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The operating and delivery rooms of the Teresita L. Jalandoni Provincial Hospital would be closed for seven days, said Negros Occidental Provincial Administrator Rayfrando Diaz.

The pediatrics, internal medicine, and dialysis sections will also be locked down for four days, but emergency services will continue.

At least seven patients tested positive for COVID-19.

Among the staff members who contracted the virus were a doctor, a nurse supervisor, anesthesiologist, two dialysis nurses, a medical technician, a utility worker, and a nursing attendant.
