The Philippines’ ultra-wealthy had a feast in October as their collective fortunes bounced back to pre-coronavirus level.

The combined net assets of fourteen bilyonaryos, with a net worth of at least $1 billion each, jumped $3.1 billion or nine percent to $37.9 billion in October 2020 from $34.8 billion the previous month.

They are just a billion dollars or two short of their total value in January 2020 when the coronavirus was just starting to spread.

The 86-year old Lucio Tan was the biggest gainer as he rocketed back to No. 3 in October from No. 10 in September.

Tan’s assets jumped $800 million to $3 billion in the last 30 days with his LT Group stock back to its January 2020 level at P11.54 as of October 30.

The Sy-blings – Hans, Herbert, Big Boy, Harley, Tessie, and Elizabeth – racked up a combined $1.1 billion to $15 billion in October.

Other top gainers were richest Filipino Manny Villar (up 14 percent to $5.8 billion) and Jollibee’s Tony Tan Caktiong (up 15 percent to $2.3 billion).
