18 hospital workers catch COVID-19

TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — Eighteen health workers of the Cagayan Valley Medical Center (CVMC) and six linemen of the Cagayan Electric Cooperative were among the latest confirmed cases of coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19 recorded in this town yesterday.

The linemen were part of a contingent that rehabilitated typhoon-damaged powerlines in Bicol region.

CVMC chief Glenn Mathew Baggao said the number of latest infection among his staff was the highest logged in a day in the hospital.

Among the recent cases is a doctor and the rest are nurses and aides assigned at the COVID-19 ward.

Meanwhile, the provincial health office said the linemen arrived in this town from Catanduanes on Dec. 18.
