THE Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) will temporarily close its main building on Roxas Boulevard, Pasay City, beginning Friday, January 29, until Tuesday, February 2, after the coronavirus was detected in the building and among its personnel.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro L. Locsin Jr. said on Twitter that he would go on quarantine, although he had tested negative for the virus.

“I’m negative but the building and officers I met yesterday (Wednesday) tested positive. We’re going into lockdown till Tuesday when we test again,” he added.

The DFA said in a statement the temporary closure was to assess public health and safety measures currently in place.

“The reopening date may be moved further, depending on the results of the assessment.”

Meanwhile, consular services to the public will remain open at the DFA-Consular Office in ASEANA, in accordance with their publicized operating hours.

The DFA advised the public to keep up-to-date on the latest news and advisories, visit any of the DFA’s media platforms: the website http://www.dfa.gov.ph, Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/dfaphl/ or Twitter at https://twitter.com/dfaphl.
