CITY OF MALOLOS –– At least 33 of the 268 employees of the municipal hall in San Ildefonso in Bulacan have been infected with the coronavirus disease (COVID-19), said officials on Monday.
San Ildefonso Mayor Carla Galvez-Tan said the spike in infections among government workers could be due to community transmission.
Tan is recovering from COVID-19 after contracting COVID-19 two weeks ago.
San Ildefonso information officer Toni Rodriguez said the municipal hall was placed on lockdown last week to give way to disinfection.
The outbreak forced town hall offices to deploy a skeleton workforce to continue rendering services.
San Ildefonso now has 378 COVID-19 cases, with 168 of them active. The town also registered 203 recoveries and seven deaths since last year.
The entire Bulacan province has more than 3,000 active cases.
