Avon helps Women’s Crisis Center fight domestic violence

Published by rudy Date posted on June 28, 2009

Avon, the company for women, once more showed its commitment to well-being of women by recently awarding the Women’s Crisis Center (WCC) with funds from its Speak Out Against Domestic Violence campaign. WCC is a non-stock, non-profit private institution that helps women survivors of domestiv violence.

In March this year, Avon Philippines introduced its global fundraising product, the Global Empowerment Necklace, created to help save and improve women’s lives worldwide. Proceeds from the sale of the Global Empowerment Necklace and Avon Lotion were set aside to support ongoing projects of a selected local NGO.

The funds will be used to expand the hotline and education campaign of WCC. Bob Briddon, Avon Philippines president and general manager, said: “We’re very happy to present the funds to the Women’s Crisis Center on behalf of our Avon representatives and customers who supported the campaign. Avon as a company for women, has been very keen on choosing a crusade that enables and empowers women to speak out. The crusade is close to our hearts, especially since it is an issue that continues to affect a lot of women and their families. –Daily Tribune
