Nov 2024 – Only in the Philippines: Concentrix exec tells what makes Pinoy BPO agents stand out

A C-suite executive of the global outsourcing giant Concentrix has shared three major reasons why the Philippines remains a highly favored hub for business process outsourcing (BPO) services.

Amit Jagga, executive vice president and chief business officer of Concentrix Philippines, said employers like Filipinos’ character as empathetic service workers.

“The first big one is the affinity to the Western culture and the spoken English language,” he said in a podcast. “It is such a big differentiator because the communication between a Filipino and anywhere across the world is so seamless, it just gives a very different level of advantage to the country.”

A second big thing is the Filipinos’ remarkable “service mindset,” where they are always eager to help.

“The Filipino people have this idea of really looking at the global problems and saying how can we solve, how can we add value to it and that’s what really makes this place so strong for us,” he added.

Jagga explained that 25% of Concentrix’s global workforce is in the Philippines, spread out across 52 domestic offices.

He added that the relatively young median age in the country is also a plus.

“It’s not just the power of a younger workforce in numbers but also the mindset of a young workforce, it drives a lot of change,” the Indian expat explained. “Younger people typically drive more change in the region and having so many young people in the Philippines helps us drive a lot of change and evolve faster.”
