For the fund of it

The leadership of the Philippine National Police (PNP) should be condemned for its cavalier treatment of the rape and sexual harassment raps filed by six women — including three members of the Women’s and Children’s Protection Desk of the Davao del Sur provincial office, as well as the wife of a junior officer — against a high-ranking officer.

Well, it surely looks that way because instead of restricting the accused to quarters (at the very least), all Camp Crame did was to shunt him to a nearby assignment which enables him to roam the province at will even after being relieved of his post.

This is why the six victims are now claiming they are in fear for their lives because their alleged tormentor has been often spotted hovering about Digos, maybe trying to convince them to refrain from pursuing their criminal complaint in the courts because it is going to prove to be very embarrassing to all concerned.

According to one terrified victim, the accused has in fact sent feelers to her family to have the case settled amicably out of court by offering a cash settlement, however she said she feels disinclined to the idea and has vowed to send her alleged violator to the slammer. –Louie Logarta, Daily Tribune
