Mikey A tells BIR, CoA, BoC: Open books of accounts of ‘Big 3’ oil industry players

House energy committee chairman and Pampanga Rep. Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo yesterday urged the Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR), Bureau of Customs (BoC) and the Commission on Audit (CoA) to immediately open the books of accounts of the “Big Three” oil industry players and start their no-nonsense court-mandated order.

Arroyo formally wrote BIR Commissioner Sixto Esquivas IV, CoA Commissioner Reynaldo Villar and Customs Commissioner Napoleon Morales asking them to start examining the cash receipts, sales invoices, disbursement books, delivery receipts and purchase order slips of the petroleum products of Petron, Shell and Chevron.

The presidential son said Petron, Shell and Chevron must now comply with the order of Judge Silvino Pampilo of the Manila Regional Trial Court Branch 26 since their motion for reconsideration had already been denied.

“The intended audit will determine once and for all if there is indeed overpricing of the petroleum products by the Big Three and this will greatly benefit the Filipino people once the audit had been conducted and the results finally disclosed,” Arroyo said.

Hours after President Arroyo delivered her last State of the Nation Address last Monday, oil companies hiked by P2 the pump prices of oil products which generated public outrage. –Charlie V. Manalo, Daily Tribune
