For the fifth year, the Philippines retains its Tier 1 ranking in the US government’s report on human trafficking. According to the 2020 Trafficking in Persons report, the Philippine government fully meets the minimum standards for the elimination of trafficking as it continues to demonstrate serious and sustained efforts during the reporting period.
POLICE arrested a 30-year-old female online sex trafficker and brought eight minors to safety on Wednesday, June 17, 2020. Of the eight minors rescued, one was a 27-year-old deaf — female who turned out to be the suspect’s younger sister. The youngest rescued was a two-year-old boy.
