TUCP/JILAF CSR and POSITIVE Workshops held in the Philippines

February 2009

Japan International Labour Foundation (JILAF) held two workshops, “National Workshop on CSR, Productivity and Competitiveness” from February 18 to 20, 2009 and “National POSITIVE Achievement Conference and Development of POSITIVE Industry-Specific Module Workshop” from February 22 to 26, 2009, in cooperation with Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) in Cebu City.

20 union leaders from regional trade unions joined the “National Workshop on CSR, Productivity and Competitiveness” and learned the role of trade unions on CSR practically by having bargaining simulation.

2 CSR seminars were organized in Cebu and Luzon

September 2008

Seminars on Employment Security and Industrial relations, focusing on CSR as a total theme, were organized in Cebu and Luzon, Mr. Inoue of New Projects Development Group joined them. In Cebu, 22 participants discussed various topics on employment and made their own action plans. In Luzon, 10 persons in charge of the gender issues, gathered and talked about globalization and decent work as gender topics. We expect those participants would tackle these issue on the workplaces as trainer.

Vis-Min workshop tackles corporate social responsibility

SURIGAO CITY (January 24) — The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) organized in cooperation with Japan International Labor Foundation (JILAF) sponsored a three-day regional workshop on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) at Davao City, recently.

Aimed at helping delegates composed of union officers, members, and government line agency representatives in Visayas and Mindanao is expected to apply this learning and integrate CSR with excellence initiatives in their organizations.

TUCP, JILAF to conduct discussion on wage agenda and CSR

June 2006

SURIGAO DEL NORTE (June 7) — The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) with assistance from Japan International Labor Foundation (JILAF) is set to conduct a discussion on Wage Agenda and training on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in Cebu City on June 7-10, 2006.

With the growing concerns on wage issues due to the rising cost of fuels and basic commodities, TUCP Program Secretariat, Ms. Anna Lee Fos bared that the first day of the training will be devoted to discussion on wage agenda in CSR, among other things. It specifically aims to make the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPB) workers’ representatives abreast of developments in wage fixing, wage exemptions and other wage issues. Explore labor actions in connection with discussions in minimum wages in the regions and validate the roles of wages in decent work and CSR.
