Fate of 7 party-list groups’ fate to be known on September polls

MANILA, Philippines — President Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III will issue his first State of the Nation Address in front of an incomplete Congress on July 26.

Commission on Elections chairman Jose Melo said the poll body has not proclaimed up to seven party-list groups for the House of Representatives.

Melo said on Wednesday that special elections in some areas have been scheduled for September and the results could affect the final standings of party-list groups.

The margins between these groups were miniscule, in the thousands, which could change after the special elections, he said. –Kristine L. Alave, Philippine Daily Inquirer
