Limestone kills worker

CEBU, Philippines – Meanwhile, a 62-year-old man was killed when limestone, locally known as “anapog,” fell on him in Sitio Pasamanos, Barangay Dawesur, Carmen, Cebu Wednesday afternoon.

Ernesto Usma, of Barangay Guinsay, Danao City who is a limestone miner in Carmen, was killed on the spot after limestone fell on him while he was resting with his coworkers around 3 p.m.

Police said a portion of the mining wall collapsed and hit Usma, who was not able to elude. Usma’s coworkers were able to immediately escape.

SPO2 Simplicio Gibo of Carmen Police Station said that Usma sustained fatal injures to his chest and ribs. – (FREEMAN)
