WASHINGTON, March 8, 2009 (AFP) – The International Monetary Fund called Friday for governments to take further stimulus measures to counter a severe global economic slump it sees extending into 2010.
MANILA, Philippines – World Bank officials led by country director Bert Hofman told lawmakers yesterday that it was up to authorities to prosecute contractors the bank had banned for collusion in bidding for road projects.
In a letter responding to the Senate’s invitation, World Bank (WB) country director for the Philippines Bert Hofman stood by the findings of the bank, saying the Sanctions Board came to its decisions after a careful and intensive process of investigation and evaluation conducted by the bank’s investigative office, Integrity Vice-Presidency (INT).
